China Light and Power's (CLP) has proposed to construct a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal at South Soko Islands which includes a 38 km pipeline through the prime habitats of the Chinese white dolphins. WWF considers that CLP's preferred option of building the LNG terminal at South Soko Island will pose serious threats to the existence of the dolphins, a protected species in Hong Kong, and Black Point is a viable option. By constructing the terminal at Black Point, we could improve the air quality and keep an ecologically important marine habitat at the same time.

CLP's Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report regarding the construction of a LNG receiving terminal in Hong Kong is now available for public consultation from 27 Dec to 25 Jan 2007.

We need your urgent support to help protect our Chinese white dolphins. Please sign our "No Go at Soko" online petition letter before 25 January 2007 to express your concerns about the negative impact of the construction of LNG terminal at Soko Island on Chinese white dolphin. Act now before it is too late!
