Professor David Dudgeon is Chair Professor of Ecology & Biodiversity and Director of the School of Biological Sciences in the Science Faculty at the University of Hong Kong, where he has served previously as Associate Dean (Research) and Chairman of the Faculty Board.
Professor Dudgeon has more than 30 years’ experience as a teacher and researcher, and is the author of over 200 scientific papers, numerous book chapters and several books on freshwater ecology and biodiversity conservation - mainly dealing with tropical Asia. His books include Tropical Asian Streams (1999), The Ecology and Biodiversity of Hong Kong (2005 & 2011; published in English and Chinese), and an edited collection, Tropical Stream Ecology (2008).
In 2000, Professor Dudgeon was awarded the Biwako Prize in Ecology by the Japanese government. He is a member of a variety of international advisory boards and scientific committees, and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal Freshwater Biology.
